The Storm Prediction Center has posted a slight risk for parts of the state tonight. Although all modes of severe weather are possible, the main threat tonight should come in the form of strong, damaging wind gusts.
A cold front is slated to push through the state, bringing with it a less muggy and cooler air mass for Iowa (at last!). But before that happens, some Iowans, especially in western and northern parts of the state will have to face another stormy night.
Storms are expected to fire just northwest of the state. If there is any potential for tornadoes this is the best place for them to form. Even so, there is a small chance that an isolated tornado or two could develop as storms roll through Iowa.
We’ll continue to monitor the situation and bring you the very latest if needed tonight.
