Here we are in the latter half of October and we’re still talking about severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has posted a slight risk for a large portion of Iowa on Wednesday. This as unseasonably warm conditions take hold over the state that day. In fact, record highs will be possible over much of the area. With abundant moisture and expected instability, severe weather could fire ahead of an advancing cold front.
This threat carries primarily a threat of large hail and strong damaging winds, but an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out. There is a lot of time between now and this outbreak and we’ll continue to follow any pattern changes. We hope to have an update on the situation this afternoon.
