At the beginning of this week we started off with life-threatening cold and now we are ending this week on a high note. Today highs will be above to right around freezing across the state. A warm front will move though the state tonight bringing with it warmer temperatures for tomorrow. Highs tomorrow will range from the upper 30s in northern Iowa to the lower 50s to upper 40s in southern Iowa. This will be a short lived warm up before a cold front will push across the state Monday night into Tuesday.
There is a chance for light snow along this cold front that will push through the state, however, no major accumulations are expected with the passage of the cold front. Tuesday will be a blustery day behind the cold front with winds gusting up to 30mph. This will add a small bite into the air making wind chills feel like the teens when actual temperatures will be in the mid to upper 20s. This is still much better than the -30°F to -50°F wind chills that we had at the beginning of the week.
Another cold front will move though the state on Thursday night knocking down temperatures once again making our highs on Friday in the upper teens to mid 20s across the state. This cold will be short lived as we are expecting milder temps after that.
Looking into the long range forecast for kicks and giggles, if you were hoping for a big snowstorm sometime soon, I’m sorry but I don’t have good news to pass along to you. It looks like we stay mild and with no great shot a snow anytime soon besides the one we talked about with the passing of the cold front this week. For you snow lovers like me I am sorry I don’t have any better news to pass along but for those of you that were hoping for warmer weather, it looks like you should be a bit more happy now. If anything changes, which it does since it’s weather, we will update you on the very latest on our Facebook page and right here at Iowachase.com. However, this week looks to be pretty quiet, with a lovely weekend in store so get outside and enjoy it while you can!
