The freezing rain is moving out and so far it appears Iowa has avoided any widespread problems. Little damage and few power outages have been reported thus far, however the wind continues to blow and area lines will be closely monitored. So far nearly a quarter inch of ice has been reported in some areas, hovering just below Ice Storm criteria.
Even so, it was enough of a glaze to make travel virtually impossible in parts of the state. Multiple accidents were reported on area highways, at times blocking traffic as crews worked to clear the scene. There have been some injuries reported in those crashes. Overall it could have been a lot worse but it was still enough to call off most church services and other activities today.
