For most across Iowa, it felt like we skipped 2 or 3 months and went straight to the dog days of summer. Take a look at the graphic below from Iowa Mesonet. It’s not often you see triple digit temperatures reported in Iowa this early. In fact, the National Weather Service in Des Moines reports records were broken in Des Moines, Waterloo, Mason City and Lamoni. Along with the heat, a lot of moisture in the air producing very muggy conditions.
The good news in temperatures should not skyrocket on Wednesday, although the mugginess will remain until a cold front finally pushes through during the day and night on Thursday. Then we can look forward to temperatures much closer to normal for this time of year.
