Geomagnetic Storm Underway, Possible Sightings in Iowa Tonight

Northern Lights in Iowa

At this time, a CME impact and a high speed solar wind stream are combining for excellent Aurora conditions on the dark side of the planet. If these conditions persist into tonight, the chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) with the naked eye and with a camera will be high, even into southern Iowa. Keep an eye on our page for updates as the evening comes, and also through the night.
