G2 (Moderate) Geomagnetic Storm Watch

The Space Weather Prediction center has issued a G1 (Minor) and G2 (Moderate) Geomagnetic Storm Watches for December 18th and 19th respectively in anticipation of the arrival of the two Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) observed on December 16th. The first CME is expected to arrive late on December 18th, bringing G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storm conditions with it, followed in close succession by the second CME early on December 19th, likely increasing activity to G2 (Moderate) levels.

This geomagnetic storm will not be visible with the naked eye, but if you venture out into the country away from light pollution, and have a long exposure camera, you should be able to snap a few photos! Stay tuned for the latest updates as we will bring you any new developments.
