It’s not a strong threat, but one that people in eastern Kansas should pay close attention to. A storm system will bring the threat of severe weather to that area on Friday. There are a lot of uncertainties at this point over what dynamics will be in place at that time to trigger severe thunderstorm development, but enough of a potential is in place to warrant a low-end slight risk for this area.
The primary threat for this area appears to be large hail. Strong wind gusts and an isolated tornado or two will also have to be watched out for, but at this time it appears most areas would see the greatest threat from hail development on Friday over eastern Kansas. We will continue to monitor this potential and have updates, when needed, later today and tomorrow.
