Light freezing rain or patch freezing drizzle is forecast to move into the area after 6pm this evening and persist past midnight. Warmer temperatures are anticipated to switch the precipitation over to rain or drizzle during the overnight hours which will help melt any accumulated ice during the early morning Saturday. Although the air temperatures are expected to rise overnight at or above freezing in much of the advisory area, the frozen ground will still cause the rain to freeze. Temperatures may warm into the mid to upper 30’s after 3am south of interstate 80 and limit the freezing rain in those areas by early Saturday morning. Continued warming temperatures after 6am Saturday morning should melt any accumulated ice.
Ice accumulations will be on the light side. Only several hundredths of an inch to a couple tenths of an inch of ice accumulation are expected. Freezing rain and freezing drizzle will make roadways and sidewalks slick.
