Freezing rain or freezing drizzle will spread across much of northern Iowa late tonight into early Monday. Areas further south will quickly changeover to all rain as temperatures warm, however, temperatures across north central Iowa will remain below freezing into Monday morning allowing for freezing rain and ice accumulations.
A freezing rain advisory will be in effect from midnight tonight to noon Monday. Ice accumulations of 0.1″ to 0.15″ will be likely. Icy conditions are expected leading to hazardous travel with slick roads, parking lots and all untreated surfaces. Slips and falls will be possible as walking surfaces become slick.
A freezing rain advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
A winter weather advisory will also be in effect for a few counties in northwest Iowa from midnight tonight to 6am Monday. This is where up to 2 inches of snow and a light glazing of ice will be possible.
