If you have any vegetation outdoors that you still want to keep alive, you will want to cover it up tonight and Friday night as temperatures are going to dip below freezing. Tonight, temperatures will dip near or just below freezing across western Iowa. This is where frost advisories and freezing warnings have been issued. A freeze warning has been issued for northwest Iowa, as this is where several hours of temperatures at or below 32°F are expected. This freeze warning will be in effect from 3am to 9am Friday.
Across west central and southwest Iowa, temperature will be a couple of degrees warmer, with overnight lows expected to dip into the middle 30’s. Areas of frost are expected to form during the early morning hours Friday. A frost advisory will be in effect for these areas from 3am to 9am Friday.
Even colder temperatures will settle into the state by Friday night. The mid to upper 20’s are forecasted for eastern Iowa, with the mid to lower 30’s across central and southwest Iowa. More freeze warnings and frost advisories will be issued by Friday morning due to these temperatures.
