Before we get to tomorrow’s “main event” threat for severe weather, we need to take a moment to focus on a threat tonight for Iowa. The same storm system expected to produce an outbreak of severe weather could do the same this afternoon and evening. Once that happens, thunderstorms could begin pushing into Iowa late tonight and into early Saturday morning.
Most of these storms should stay below severe limits, but an isolated storm or two could produce some large hail during the overnight hours. We will monitor this threat but at this time it does not appear to be strong enough to warrant any kind of chase or other coverage.
Of course once these storms push out, attention turns to everything that needs to be in place tomorrow for an outbreak of severe weather. For more on Saturday’s threat, click here.
