Light snow and blowing snow will continue through the mid evening over the southeast with blowing snow over central and northern Iowa this evening. The brisk northwest winds will then persist into the night even after the snow has ended with bitterly cold wind chills into Sunday morning over all of the region.
A wind chill warning will be in effect through noon Sunday. Expect wind chill readings to range from 25 to 45 below zero, with the coldest wind chills occurring between midnight tonight and 9am Sunday.
South of interstate 80, a wind chill advisory will be in effect through noon Sunday. The wind chill will reach the single digits and teens below zero by this evening. Wind chills will drop to 25 to 30 below zero by early Sunday morning. Overnight lows of 10 to 15 below zero will be common.
