An excessive heat watch will be in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Friday evening. High temperatures are expected to rise into the 90’s to near 100 degrees Wednesday into Friday, with overnight lows only dropping into the mid to upper 70’s. The extreme heat combined with rising humidity will lead to heat index values as high as 100 to 110 each day.
An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
