Severe thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and tonight across the southern half of the state into Oklahoma. The greatest potential for severe storms will extend from portions of eastern Kansas into southern Iowa, where large hail, damaging winds, and a couple of tornadoes will be possible.
Storms will develop across eastern Nebraska/western Iowa around 4pm, and will advance to the east. Storms will enter central Iowa around 8 to 9pm and will continue to pose a strong to severe threat. The greatest risk for tornadoes will exist across southwest Iowa, but will quickly diminish after dark.
