A cut off low that is currently bringing heavy rain across the central and southern plains, will begin moving closer to the state late this evening. This will increase the rain chances by this evening, and on into Monday.

Rain will begin across far western Iowa after midnight this evening and will continue to push off to the east during the day Monday. Rain will continue into Tuesday across the state, with additional chances on Wednesday and Thursday.

Rainfall accumulations will be the heaviest across western Iowa. This is where a half inch to an inch of rain will be possible. Across the middle section on the state, rainfall accumulations will range from a quarter of an inch to a half inch of rain. Eastern Iowa, rainfall accumulation will be under a quarter of an inch. Dry weather returns by Friday, with highs above average for most of the week.
