High pressure over the region will continue to provide seasonably cooler weather Wednesday and Thursday. This will allow humidity levels to be slightly lower, and allow the weather to remain dry through Thursday. Thunderstorm chances will build into the forecast Thursday night and into the weekend. These thunderstorm chances will be caused a stationary front that will be stalled out over central Iowa.
From the image above, you can see over the next seven days, over an inch of rain can be expected in some parts of the state. Fortunately this rain will not all come at one time. High pressure will build back into the state by Monday, allowing for a dry beginning to next week.
