Isolated severe thunderstorms may be possible across northeast Iowa late this evening as a cold front approaches the state from the Dakotas and Minnesota. The greatest severe weather potential will stay to our north across central Minnesota, but a couple isolated severe thunderstorms may enter into the state.
Ongoing showers and thunderstorms this morning across northern Iowa is one of the main reasons this threat is conditional. If the atmosphere had enough time to recover and enough clearing took place to help aid this, then the severe weather potential would be greater. This does not appear to happen, so only a low potential of severe weather will be possible this evening.
Any storms that do become severe will have a damaging wind gusts and large hail potential. Continue to check back to the Iowa Storm Chasing Network for the latest updates on Facebook, Twitter an online at IowaChase.com.
