2:40pm: west of Des Moines now. Trying to determine how much further west we wanna go before moving south, looks like we will make the turn soon and wait for new development.
2:10pm: Running into moderate to heavy rain just east of Des Moines, remnants of this morning’s storms in western Iowa, still hoping for more intense storms over the next couple hours.
1:35pm: Checking latest data, looks like areas south of Atlantic and Des Moines are primed for tornadic development over the next three hours. Just passed the Lynnville exit on westbound I-80, should reach our target area in a couple of hours.
1:05pm: Barry and myself are heading westbound on I-80, passing the Marengo exit hoping to get west of Des Moines sometime after 2pm. Storms should begin organizing around that time in southwest Iowa, tornadic potential is increasing as atmosphere is destabilizing rapidly. Will update when we can on here, also be sure to check my twitter and the Eastern Iowa Stormchaser fan page on facebook.
