Showers and thunderstorms continue over parts of Iowa this morning. They are near a frontal boundary that’s expected to linger over the state this afternoon. That front should be the focus of new development later this afternoon and evening.
As a result, the Storm Prediction Center has posted a slight risk for severe weather across much of the state today. Strong storms may develop later this afternoon and evening. The greatest uncertainty however is exactly where this front will stall out tonight.
All modes of severe weather are possible, but the greatest threat comes from large hail and strong damaging winds. An isolated tornado or two can’t be ruled out. We are monitoring the situation and will bring you updates throughout the day. If needed, we’ll launch our live coverage later if the conditions warrant.
