Tropical Storm Hermine made landfall last night near the Texas-Mexico border. Not a major problem for the area with the exception of some heavy rain, but this tropical system will eventually bring a good amount of precipitation to Iowa.
The remnants of Hermine should reach Iowa sometime Wednesday Night, bringing a prolonged threat of rainfall to the state. Normally these tropical system don’t make it as far as Iowa, but a strong southwest flow is expected to push what’s left of this tropical system into the state.
At this time, we do not expect much in the way of severe weather, but any time you see this much moisture moving up, heavy rainfall needs to be monitored. We’ll keep an eye on this, but otherwise enjoy a cool and pleasant September week.
