We needed a day like this. After 8”-10” of rain fell over parts of Iowa over a 48 hour period, an overall dry day gave area rivers, streams and ditches a chance to lower water levels. There is still river flooding occurring in many areas, fortunately most of the troubles in central and eastern Iowa were the cause of flash flooded and have already subsided.
We traveled to the Wellman area and took these shots as the water receded. Unfortunately this standing water in many farm fields is not good news for area farmers. It’s unclear how much of the young crops were lost.
Unfortunately there are already several chances of more showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. We’ll have more on the future threats of severe weather coming up Thursday morning.
