Bitter Cold Wind Chills Through Friday Morning

Iowa Wind Chill Advisory

Temperatures tonight will drop into the zero to 10 below zero range. These cold temperatures combined with northwest winds of 5 to 15-mph, will produce wind chills colder than 20 degrees below zero at times. The coldest wind chills will occur from around midnight tonight to 7am Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory, which will be in effect through 10am CST Friday. These wind chills could cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
