If you think today is cold, just wait until you see the forecast for Monday. A big arctic blast will move into the central U.S. by Sunday night and will persists through the middle of next week. Highs on Monday will be below zero, with wind chills approach dangerous values.
Wind chill values of 40 below zero are currently expected across northern Iowa, and they could potentially be colder as winds will be gusting between 15mph to 20mph. Highs on Monday may need to be lowered even more than they already are, but we will continue to keep an eye on this as this looks to be a 36 hour period of bitterly cold temperatures. Stay tuned to the Iowa Storm Chasing Network for the very latest.
