Advisory Upgraded: Winter Storm Warning Issued

Snow will be moderate to heavy this morning before coming light this afternoon. Through 10am, snow amounts of 3 to 6 inches have been reported, resulting in slick travel conditions on untreated roads. Snow is expected to continue through early afternoon with total accumulations of 2 to 4 inches across east central into northwest Illinois. Most accumulations will be restricted to grassy surfaces. Once the snow ends, temperatures slightly above freezing should help roads rapidly improve later this afternoon. Total accumulations of snow for this event are expected to be 4 to 8 inches.
