After enjoying a weekend in the 60’s, a harsh reality will be returning by the end of the seven day. If you are not outdoors this afternoon enjoying the sun, you will want to enjoy it as the clouds and rain will be on the increase by Monday.
By Monday, light rain will be possible early on in the morning with light showers continuing through the afternoon. By Monday night, you might begin to hear some rumbles of thunder. Tuesday is when we are expecting the heaviest of the rain to fall. Rain will then begin to taper off by Tuesday evening, before pulling out of the state by Wednesday morning. After all said and done, rainfall totals will be around an inch across the state with almost two inches across southeast Iowa.
By Thursday, the sun will return as well as the fall like temperatures. Highs on Thursday will be in the mid 40’s to near 50 degrees. Temperatures will continue to cool as we head into the weekend. By the end of next weekend, temperatures will be in the 30’s.
Next weekend also looks to bring the potential for another storm system. This one could bring the potential for some snow. However, with it still being over a week away, we will not be going into great detail, nor will we show any early model snowfall accumulation runs. As many of you know, forecasting snowfall over a week out is not accurate, and would be irresponsible to even show forecast snowfall totals like some have tried to do. As we come closer to next weekend, and things still continue to hold, then we would be willing to go into detail about it.
Until then, enjoy your Sunday as the start of this week is going to be a wet one!
