Active Pattern Ahead

After a stretch of dry weather, the rain will be building into the forecast tonight. This afternoon we had a few light showers across northwest Iowa. These eventually broke apart as they pushed off to the southeast as they entered a drier atmosphere over central Iowa.

Overnight tonight, we will remain dry, before a slight chance of light rain early Friday morning mainly across northern Iowa. Midday Friday we will get a small break before more rain builds into southern Iowa by Friday afternoon. Southern Iowa will be the main focus for the heaviest rain over the next few days. Rain will continue to be widespread on Saturday lasting for most of the day with a few breaks in the rain here and there. Sunday will be another cloudy and rainy day with isolated showers and thunderstorms. d13_fillOver the next 72 hours, the heaviest rain will fall across southern Iowa, with the bulls eye being in southeast Iowa. This is where 1″ to 1.5″ of rain will be possible with locally higher amounts possible.
