A storm system will impact the area with accumulating snow into this evening. Snow will develop into eastern Iowa by late morning and continue to overspread the rest of the area through the afternoon before ending this evening.

Snowfall totals are expected to range from 2 to 6 inches. The heavier amounts will likely be focused on the Highway 30 and Interstate 80 corridors, where snowfall rates of an inch or more per hour will lead to rapid accumulation and very poor visibility for the evening commute.

A winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories will be in effect from 11am this morning to 6pm this evening. Heavy snow is expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.
