Below Normal to Above Normal

6 to 10 day temperature outlook

Iowa Wednesday TemperaturesWe continue to be spoiled with temperatures that are more fall like instead of the typical weather that is accompanied with July. This morning, a few locations broke a record low temperatures.

At the Ottumwa Airport, the low this morning was 49°. The previous record low temperature was 51° set in 1930. The morning low temperatures at Lamoni was 52°. The previous record low temperature was 55° set in 1961.

6 to 10 day temperature outlook

As we mentioned yesterday, this weather can not last forever. High pressure will begin to move into the region, which will allow for more sunshine and warmer weather. The image above is the 6 to 10 day temperature outlook released by the Climate Prediction Center.  The state of Iowa is in the 50%-75% chance of above average temperatures. Temperatures will continue to be on the rise into this weekend, before the heat really cranks up by early next week. By Monday, temperatures will be in the upper 80’s to lower 90’s, so enjoy this cooler weather while it lasts!
