As we first told you earlier this morning, a moderate risk area is now posted for areas of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. This is the area that will serve as the focal point for severe thunderstorm development this afternoon and evening.
In this moderate risk area, all modes of severe weather are possible this evening, with the main focus on strong, damaging winds of a large area. Storms that rolled through Minnesota and Iowa on Tuesday produced a number of reports of wind damage. There is a greater potential today that we could see that damage threat over a much wider area. Much like last night, this severe threat could last well into the evening and overnight hours.
We are monitoring the latest and our Ben McMillan will once again be out in the elements today. You can track his progress (when available) by checking out our live coverage section. And if you would like more information on today’s threat, you can also watch the web briefing from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma.
