Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop here in Iowa as we move closer to sunset. There is really no change at this hour in the severe weather forecast. Right now we are awaiting more info from the Storm Prediction Center. At this hour a tornado watch is expected for areas just south and west of Iowa. A sign of things to come for sure. Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect. Strong to severe thunderstorms will roll across Iowa during the evening and overnight hours tonight. They should eventually taper off before a new round of storms likely fires sometime after 5pm on Monday Afternoon. This could trigger an all-night severe weather event, first hitting the northern half of the state while the second round hits the southern half during the overnight hours.
Another round of severe weather is expected in the eastern half of Iowa on Tuesday, more on that threat later but for now we will await what’s coming for us tonight. Stay tuned for more updates on this impending series of severe weather events.
