As a severe thunderstorm begins to move into northwest Iowa, it appears large hail will be the primary threat early this afternoon. The storm moving into Plymouth County at this hour has a recent history of producing hail as large as 3.00” in diameter. That’s three times the severe threshold and very dangerous not only for property but anyone caught outside in the storm. To the left is the hail risk for today.
Storms are expected to continue to develop along a frontal boundary this afternoon. We will monitor the situation over the next few hours and if the severe outbreak becomes more widespread we’ll launch our live coverage.
