The latest from the Storm Prediction Center shows that little has changed in how tonight should play out. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon, especially over portions of southwest Iowa. These storms, especially after sunset, will begin racing across the state.
Hail and strong winds are the primary threats, but the potential for damaging wind gusts is becoming the front runner at this time. Parameters are in place for such a wind event tonight across much of Iowa. We will monitor these storms as they develop and plan to bring you live coverage if necessary later tonight.
Of course we’re looking at several more chances for severe weather over the next week. Read more about that by clicking here. For now we’ll focus on tonight’s threat and look forward to (hopefully) a quieter day on Saturday.
